Difference between indoor and outdoor LED displays
When people mention Indoor and outdoor displays, just as the name imply, the primary difference between them usually refer to the installation site which results in the differences of several parameters as follows:
1. Configuration: Pixel of outdoor display is composed of Through-hole LED lamp, but for indoor is SMD (surface mounted device) lamp
2. Resolution: As the Outdoor LED displays are usually viewed from the greater distances and their sizes are usually bigger than ones for indoors, so they still can get good visual effect under the condition of relative low resolution (from great distance the human eyes do not distinguish small trivial details anyways). The cost is therefore compensated by the lower resolution needed to provide a good image due to the big dimensions.
3. Brightness: the outdoor usage requires higher brightness components in order to be visible from greater distances and most of all to contrast the direct sunlight.
4. IP level: Exposed to rigid climate all the year round, outdoor LED displays need an excellent resistance to water, dust, salty air and corrosive intrusion.
5. Against sun and against-vandalism protection system: Outdoor LED displays are provided of a special protection system that has the double function of protecting the displays from the sun and from vandalism acts.
